It was founded in January 2003 and currently produces cars, buses, trucks, electric bicycles, forklifts, and rechargeable batteries. BYD Co. Ltd. acquired the Xinchuan Machinery Works from Norinco in 2002, likely to take over the passenger car production license. The present portfolio of the company includes electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and petrol engine models.
